ACADEMIC PROJECT

                        Project Title      :       “ ANALYSIS AND SUGGESTION OF ALTERNATIVE MATERIAL EPIDERMAL LAYER OF ARTIFICIAL SKIN ”

This project deals with the study on the sustainance capability of the presently used artificial skin substitute which makes use of silastic material as epidermal layer, with the help of coupled field analysis using using Ansys 9.0. Analysis suggested the inability of the material to withstand normal loads leading to loss of edges which may further lead to infection and subsequently to death. Also in this an attempt was made to suggest an alternative material to silastic by performing the same type analysis on various materials like butyl rubber, neoprenen rubber, isoprene rubber, polyurethane elastomerand suggested the best by keeping biocompatibility also in view.

    Duration            :      6 months.
